frank green isn’t a person. It’s a philosophy. our mission is to stop the manufacturing and use of single-use items by only creating innovative products that are stylish, good for the environment and made to fit you. The kind that you want to use over and over again. frank green was officially born in 2013. but the idea for it has been around since the 90s. our founder, benjamin young, used to play down by the river near his house every afternoon, fishing, skipping stones and feeling like huckleberry finn. but whenever it rained, ben’s paradise was ruined, as thousands of plastic water bottles and cups came pouring down the river and onto the beach. he was shocked when he learned that every single piece of plastic ever made still exists today. he knew it would continue to ruin special places like his river — unless we stop making it.
fast forward 20 years and ben was working as an executive, overseeing some of australia’s largest mergers, when he realised something: he was now in a position to do something about the problem that had bugged him since childhood. he could use his years of devising and implementing business strategies to help solve the plastic crisis. and he was going to start by inventing a reusable coffee cup.
when he told his colleagues about his idea, they told him he was dreaming. they said nobody would ever use it because disposable was too convenient. proving them wrong became ben’s number one goal for the next three years. he knew that if he could create something that looked beautiful and desirable, that created a better drinking experience for the consumer, that would save cafes money and that could be popped in a bag and washed once at home — he knew people would choose it over a disposable cup.
his design was steeped in research, meticulously refined and in the end, multi-award-winning. our iconic reusable cups and bottles are now sold around the world and are beloved by millions. and ben’s obsession to stop the use and manufacture of all single-use plastic products has only grown.
today, frank green exists to create sustainable solutions to the single-use plastic problem. we make beautifully designed and innovative products that people love to use, over and over and over again.

frank green officially launched in 2013. But really, the idea’s been with me since the 90s — since I was a kid growing up in Australia. Most afternoons after school, I’d head down to the river near my house. I’d fish, skip stones, explore…just get lost in my own world. That river was my paradise — I felt like Huckleberry Finn, completely free. But every time it rained, everything changed. Thousands of plastic bottles, cups, and other rubbish would come surging down the river and wash up on the shore. It ruined everything. I remember asking my parents why it happened, and when I learned that every piece of plastic ever made still exists, it hit me like a tonne of bricks. I couldn’t shake it. Even as a kid, I knew this wasn’t how the world should work. I couldn’t understand how we could just keep making this stuff — using it once and throwing it away, as if it disappeared.
Fast forward 20 years, and I’m sitting in a boardroom, overseeing some of the largest corporate mergers in the country. From the outside, it looked like I’d made it. But deep down, I couldn’t stop thinking about that river. I realised I had a chance to do something — to actually change things. I had the business experience, the strategic background…but more than anything, I had this fire in my gut that had been burning since childhood. So I left my job and decided to go all in on an idea most people thought was ridiculous — a reusable coffee cup. They said it would never work. That people wouldn’t change. That single-use was too easy. Too ingrained. That only made me more determined.
I knew that if I could create something beautiful and practical, something people actually wanted to use — not because they had to, but because they loved to — I could prove them all wrong. I became obsessed. Every detail mattered: the way it felt in your hand, how it fit in your life, how it performed, and how it looked. It had to be more than a product — it had to be a lifestyle.
Years later, frank green has become exactly that. Our reusable cups and bottles are used and loved all around the world. They’ve won design awards. They’re in cafes, homes, backpacks, and offices from Melbourne to Berlin to LA. But what I’m most proud of? We’re changing behaviours. We’re making sustainable living feel irresistible. frank green is no longer just an idea I had — it’s a movement. A mindset. One that’s intentional, conscious, and deeply stylish. Because I still think about that little boy by the river. And I want every kid to grow up in a world where they can skip stones, fish in clean water, and feel like Huckleberry Finn — not stand on a beach full of plastic. That’s why I started frank green. And that’s what drives me every single day.
